Meet Emily Laura, owner and curator of On the Edge Studio and creator of The Edgework Syllabus.

Emily Laura is the heel geek of your dreams. Studying pole dance since 2011, she is internationally recognised for her elegant edgework, refined flow, and highly technical approach to heels technique. Her work bridges artistry and anatomy, blending expressive movement with intelligent, body-led training.

Emily brings an exceptional depth of knowledge to her teaching, with qualifications including Functional Range Conditioning, Level 3 Yoga Diploma, Pre- and Postnatal Corrective Exercise, Level 4 Anatomy & Physiology, and Biomechanical Corrective Exercise, alongside multiple pole instructor certifications.

Renowned for her ability to break down complex mechanics in an accessible way, Emily empowers dancers to understand how movement works—so they can develop greater control, confidence, and a movement style that feels authentically their own.

Beyond the studio, Emily regularly guest performs, judges UK competitions, and contributes to international discussions on heels technique and low-flow movement. She has featured on podcasts and global panels, including the Low Flow Pole Summit (2025 & 2026) and the Australian Pole Dance Awards, and is a featured instructor at the International Pole Convention.

Through On the Edge Studio, Emily delivers specialist online education, live classes, and workshops worldwide, with a sharp focus on edgework, heels technique, conditioning, and sustainable progression.

Outside of dance, Emily is a mum to three boys and a passionate advocate for disability rights and inclusion, inspired by and in support of her eldest son, Arthur.
